At Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc., we provide specialized psychiatric care for pediatric and perinatal patients in California. This document outlines the limitations of our practice and scope of services to ensure transparency, manage patient expectations, and provide legal protection for our practice. 

Scope of Services 

We offer outpatient psychiatric care, including: 

  • Comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children, adolescents, and perinatal patients. 

  • Medication management integrated with psychotherapy 

  • Psychoeducation and supportive counseling for patients and their families. 

  • Support for perinatal mental health concerns (including pregnancy, postpartum, and reproductive psychiatry) 

  • Management of mood, anxiety, and behavioral disorders in pediatric and adolescent patients 

  • Coordination of care with therapists, pediatricians, obstetricians, and other healthcare providers. 

  • Office, telehealth, and home visit services (home visits are subject to eligibility and provider discretion). 

 

Conditions We Treat 

We specialize in the treatment of: 

  • Anxiety disorders (GAD, OCD, social anxiety, panic disorder) 

  • Depressive disorders 

  • ADHD and executive functioning challenges 

  • Behavioral and emotional regulation concerns 

  • Postpartum depression, anxiety, and mood disorders 

  • Perinatal and reproductive mental health concerns 

  • Trauma and adjustment-related disorders 

Limits of Practice 

While we strive to provide comprehensive psychiatric care, we do not offer the following services: 

  • Emergency or Crisis Care: If you or a loved one are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. 

  • 24/7 On-Call Services: We are not available outside of our designated business hours for immediate crisis intervention. 

  • Forensic or Legal Evaluations: We do not conduct court-ordered psychiatric evaluations, custody evaluations, disability determinations, or legal competency assessments. 

  • Prescriptions for certain controlled substances via telehealth in adherence to state and federal regulations. If there are any changes in state or federal regulations, prescribing stimulants or other controlled medications may require in-person visits. 

  • Substance Use Disorder Treatment: We do not provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid or alcohol use disorders. Patients requiring specialized substance use care will be referred to an appropriate provider. 

  • Primary Care or General Medical Services: We do not provide routine medical care, vaccinations, or medical management for non-psychiatric conditions. 

  • Standalone therapy or psychotherapy services. While we offer psychoeducation, supportive counseling, and incorporate elements of psychotherapy into our visits, we do not solely provide psychotherapy. Patients may be referred to licensed therapists for ongoing psychotherapy. 

  • Inpatient or residential treatment. Patients requiring a higher level of care will be referred to appropriate facilities. 

Home, Office and Telehealth Limitations 

  • Home visits are provided at the discretion of the provider and are subject to pre-screening and approval. Patients must complete the Home Visit Screener and Policy before scheduling a home visit. 

  • Telehealth services are available for patients located within California at the time of the appointment. Telehealth is not appropriate for all conditions, and in-person care may be required based on clinical necessity. 

  • We reserve the right to decline or discontinue home, office, or telehealth services based on safety concerns, clinical appropriateness, or logistical constraints. 

Right to Refuse or Terminate Services 

Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate services at any time based on clinical appropriateness, non-compliance with treatment recommendations, abusive or inappropriate behavior toward staff, failure to adhere to financial policies, or other reasons at the provider’s discretion. 

Communication and Response Times 

  • Non-Urgent Inquiries: Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. strives to respond to non-urgent messages, emails, and appointment requests within 2-3 business days. However, response times may vary based on patient volume and availability. 

  • Urgent Matters: We do not provide same-day responses for urgent matters. If you require immediate psychiatric support, please contact 911 or visit the nearest emergency department. 

  • Electronic Communication Disclaimer: Email, text messages, and other digital communications should not be used for discussing medical concerns, treatment plans, or confidential patient information.  

Financial and Insurance Policies 

  • Fee-for-Service Model: We operate as a cash-pay, fee-for-service practice and do not accept insurance, Medicare, or Medi-Cal. Patients are responsible for full payment at the time of service. 

  • Superbills for Reimbursement: We can provide superbills for patients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. However, we do not guarantee reimbursement, and it is the patient’s responsibility to verify out-of-network benefits. 

  • Cancellation and No-Show Fees: Patients must adhere to our cancellation policy, which includes fees for late cancellations and missed appointments. 

 

Modification of Services and Policies 

Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. reserves the right to modify, discontinue, or adjust services, policies, or fees at any time without prior notice, as permitted by applicable laws and professional guidelines.

Our goal is to provide comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care within the legal and professional scope of practice defined by the California Board of Registered Nursing and relevant federal guidelines. This website does not provide services outside the scope of practice as defined by state and federal regulations.   • Following and Friend Requests: To maintain ethical boundaries, our providers do not accept friend requests, follows, or direct messages from current or former patients on personal or professional social media profiles. 

  • Public Comments and Messages: If you comment or message our social media accounts, please be aware that we cannot respond to any inquiries related to patient care. For all clinical or administrative concerns, please contact our office directly via phone or email. 

  • Blocking and Reporting: We may block or report individuals who repeatedly violate our social media guidelines, post inappropriate content, or attempt to engage in unpermitted patient-provider interactions. 

Online Reviews and Patient Feedback 

  • No Response to Public Reviews: Due to confidentiality laws, we are unable to respond to online reviews, whether positive or negative. This policy ensures HIPAA compliance and protects patient privacy.

General Provisions 

  1. Governing Law. This Social Media and Online Reviews Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.  

  2. Entire Agreement. This Policy constitutes the entire agreement between Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. and all individuals engaging with its online platforms regarding the subject matter herein and supersedes all prior understandings, agreements, or communications, whether written or oral, related to social media and online reviews. No modification or waiver of any provision shall be binding unless made in writing and duly executed by an authorized representative of Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. 

  3. Force Majeure. Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. shall not be liable for any failure or delay in enforcing this Policy due to events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, cybersecurity incidents, pandemics, technical failures, or other unforeseen circumstances that prevent compliance. 

  4. Dispute Resolution. MEDIATION. Prior to initiating any arbitration or litigation, the parties agree to engage in a mediation session to attempt to resolve any disputes arising out of or relating to this Agreement. The parties shall mutually agree upon a mediator accredited by a recognized mediation institution in California. Each party shall bear its own costs in mediation, and the parties shall share equally the fees of the mediator unless otherwise agreed. The mediation shall take place in Santa Barbara County, CA, and shall be conducted confidentially. The use of mediation is a condition precedent to any party initiating arbitration or litigation.  ARBITRATION. In the event that mediation as hereinabove described fails to resolve the dispute, the parties agree that any and all disputes arising from or related to the terms of this Agreement, including any issues of enforceability or validity of this arbitration provision, shall be resolved by binding arbitration, conducted in accordance with the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitration shall be conducted in Santa Barbara County, CA, by a single arbitrator mutually agreed upon by the parties, or if no agreement can be reached, then by an arbitrator appointed by the American Arbitration Association. The decision of the arbitrator shall be final and binding on the parties, and judgment on the award rendered by the arbitrator may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. Each party shall bear its own costs and attorneys' fees, and the parties shall share equally the arbitrator's fees unless the arbitrator decides otherwise as part of the award.   

  5. Notice. Any notice or communication regarding this Policy shall be in writing and delivered to Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. via certified mail, return receipt requested, or via email with confirmed receipt, at the official contact information provided on its website. 

  6. Amendment. Perinatal Peds Nursing, Inc. reserves the right to modify, update, or amend this Social Media and Online Reviews Policy at any time, at its sole discretion, with immediate effect upon posting on our official website or designated communication channels, and continued engagement constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. 

  7. Severability. If any provision of this Policy is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect to the maximum extent permitted by law.
